Tai Chi and Qigong

What is Tai Chi?

Developed over thousands of years and drawing on Chinese philosophy and Traditional Medicine, Tai Chi (Taiji) is a system of slow moving exercises for cultivating 'internal energy'. As well as developing skills for martial arts, regular practice brings improved health and vitality to body and mind.

Tai Chi uses a sequence of moves known as a Form. Different style Forms range from 5 - 30 mins to complete and teach essential balance, posture and, if appropriate, self-defence skills.

What is Qigong?

Outwardly similar to Tai Chi, these therapeutic exercises are done solely for health benefits.

What's the difference?

Both Tai Chi and Qigong allow one's attention to focus on all parts of the body promoting harmony and balance between body and mind. Qigong exercises are mostly stationary and done standing or seated.

Pauline teaches adapted versions of Qigong and Yang and Chen style Forms in her arthritis and elderly classes.
